Lara Brodsky

Lessons

Since 2004 Ms. Brodsky has taught cello and violin to adults of all ages and children as young as five. Alongside suzuki and traditional methods, all students develop aural comprehension skills and gain a basic understanding of music theory in order to improve memory, musicality, and technique.

Biography

Lara Brodsky has given solo performances in the New York and D.C. metropolitan area, and has also performed at the Swedish Embassy, Tenri Cultural Institue, The Kennedy Center Concert Hall, and historic clubs such as The Bitter End and The Knitting Factory.

Her experience includes international performances across genres, with artists such as Lenny Pickett, Mos Def, and Alan Menken. Ms. Brodsky began string studies at age eleven with violin, studying with Amy Horman and Doree Huneven. At seventeen she began studying cello, under the tutelage of Deborah Brudvig at The Washington Conservatory and played in their Honors Concert a year later. Accepted to NYU's music department in 2005 she attended the NYU Summer Quartet Workshop in 2006 on full scholarship and completed her B.M. with Marion Feldman in 2008. She is currently pursuing a M.A. with Marcy Rosen at the CUNY Aaron Copland School of Music.
